My Journey: From Crafting to Running a Business

Welcome to Crafty Mums Bizcademy!

I’m thrilled to share my story with you, and I hope it inspires you, especially if you’ve ever faced a tough time and wondered how to turn things around. My journey from crafting as a way to heal to running a business has been filled with challenges, growth, and a lot of learning. If you're a mum who’s also looking for a way to channel your creativity and build something meaningful, keep reading, I’ve been there!

The Diagnosis That Changed Everything

It all began when I was diagnosed with a vocal chord disorder. As someone who loved to speak, my world was turned upside down. I had to leave my job, and my once clear and confident voice became something I couldn’t rely on. It was incredibly difficult to navigate a world where I felt silenced, not just physically, but emotionally too. For a while, I felt lost and unsure of what to do next.

But instead of wallowing in frustration, I needed something to keep me going. Crafting became my escape. It became my voice when I couldn’t speak. The act of creating something with my hands gave me a sense of purpose and focus. It stopped me from feeling sorry for myself and helped me to rediscover that I still had a beautiful, empowering voice, it just wasn’t always the kind I’d known before.

Finding My Voice Through Crafting

In the quiet of my bedroom, I began to create. Crafting became more than just a hobby; it became a lifeline. I was learning that my creativity had its own kind of power. And I wanted to share that power with others, to show that crafting wasn’t just about making things, but about expressing yourself and transforming your story into something tangible.

One of the very first products I ever made was a boxed greeting card. It started small, just something I could send to friends and family, something personal and thoughtful. But as soon as I shared it, the response was incredible. People loved it! They appreciated the care, the thoughtfulness, and the elevated experience it provided.

Stepping Into Business

As the demand grew, I knew I had to take this seriously. I had found my passion and my purpose, and I was ready to step into the world of business. What started as crafting in my bedroom turned into a full-fledged business. I created an online store, set up a brand, and began selling my boxed greeting cards and other handmade products.

It wasn’t easy. There were lots of late nights, many moments of doubt, and a lot of trial and error. But each step I took was a reminder of how far I’d come from that place of fear and uncertainty when I first received my diagnosis.

The Power of Crafting & Creativity

The more I immersed myself in the world of crafting and entrepreneurship, the more I realized something profound: creativity is a tool of empowerment. As a mum, I had faced so many obstacles, but by embracing my craft, I discovered a way to turn my passion into something that not only supported my family but also helped me regain confidence in myself.

From Healing to Helping Others

Now, as I run my business, I realize how much this journey has prepared me for something greater. I want to help other mums who may feel lost or unsure of where to begin. I want to show them that creativity isn’t just a hobby, it’s a way to find your voice, express yourself, and build something meaningful.

That’s why I created Crafty Mums Bizcademy.
